I was looking through my Hayes manual and I noticed that it said a 'Charge' light should light up when the key is in the ON position, and I realized that I have never seen that before.
A couple of months ago my car wouldnt start, it was really cold out, so I replaced the battery and it started right up. After a while I noticed that the interior lights, like the glowing green on the tachometer and stuff, were getting pretty dim, and when I turned the headlights on, the battery gauge dropped wwaayyy down and everything was really dim, and the alternator belt would start squealing really loud. I tightened the tensioner and that solved the squealing and dimming of lights.
Now when I am driving the battery gauge seems is lower than it normally was. Would it be a safe assumption that if my charging system wasn't working my battery should be dead by now ??? I have had this battery in there for like 4 months or so. I attempted to pull the whole speedometer and tachometer thing out and got it mostly out, I was going to see if it was just a burnt bulb or something but that task proved to be very challenging and I gave up....
Please excuse the length of this post and try to hang with me :)
So all in all I guess I am wondering if anyone else has had the problem of no Charge light and if so have you fixed it or now how? And just out of curiosity which light is it (position on the dash)? My car is a '93 Probe GT.
Thanx for your help!
