 not a rockford fan .... 8 ohms is nothing.. 1ohms to 4 ohms does alot of bass.. 8 ohms with high bass watts is like throwing a rock at a solid window and it breaks fast...

I own a strike S2.300 lightning audio that is owned by Rockford and only gets profit... not make profit only.. same way with my earthquakes... owned by Rockford but not made.. same concept with ford probe.. japan made but profited for ford..

STRIKE S2.300
power rating:
90w x 2 @ 4 ohms
170w x 2 @ 2 ohms
340w x 1 @4 ohms

i bridged my amp so i am pushing 340 watts into a 4 ohms and it is perfectly safe to run.. if you put 8 ohms... good luck trying to convince the store that they were defective speakers that it was caused from too much wattage into a lighter ohms.. the higher the number ohms is weaker.. the lower the number is is stronger handling... if you dont believe me.. try the MTX new's RFL amp that can go up to 2,000 watts handling power at normal running... the RFL MTX speaker can handle up to 4,000 watts peak... this baby can run off a RFL MTX amp of two channel of 2 @ 2ohms... of 2,000 watts RMS... PEAK is 4,000 watts ( yes i know my speakers well.. i been in the biz for awhile to know good quaility... trust me rockford isnt the best neither is pioneer... also i was a MTX freak and i had four 12 of MTX 7000's and two 2300 mtx amp and unforunately they got stolen and never saw them again... so now i am cutting my budget to 260.00 a piece of earthquakes and a 250.00 amp... for more info on the MTX.. go to my good favorite site of MTX..

Hey Jay, I hate to be the one who tells you that you are wrong, but you are. Rockford Fosgate has been one of the best brands out there since about 95. MTX is not bad, but you get more bang for your buck with Rockford. Also way more reliable. I have been running RRF for more than 5yrs. now, no problems at all. The thing with the 8ohm vs 4ohms, all that is, is how much power you want to create. It does not make the spkr. any weaker or stronger. The lower the ohm load the harder your amp works. If you bridge a two ch. amp with 2 4ohm subs you got 1 ohm on the amp. max power out of the amp, least amount of control over the amp and spkr. and also the most distortion. Now you take 2 8ohm subs hook it up brigded to the same amp, you are at 2 ohms.
