Today I tied open number 1 VRIS and I ran it and I felt a noticable difference in 3rd and 4th gears. No real loss in the lower end. Then I put it back to normal and personally I think that having the VRIS tied open gave my car a little kick in 3rd and 4th gear. Anyone ever do this??

I'm flat out dying to get to a dyno and make 2 runs, one with and one without them tied. I'm in whenever enough people are together.

isnt there a big discussion about this on probetalk??? they are saying that it doesnt do anything unless you have asperation [turbo,sc]

I wonder if it would make any difference is just one was tied back. I just did VRIS number 1 and I felt a noticable difference. REALLT NEED THAT DYNO TEST.

MN94GT, the only thing you are noticing is the power increase in the upper rpm range where the vris open anyhow,
you are actually losing some torque in the low range so when the engine can actually use the x-tra airflow (higher rpms) so the power you think you are gaining is actually the power you had but now its comming from less power in the low range so the differance that you feel is greater.
VRIS is good leave it alone (unless you plan on forced induction ) then you just extrude hone it and then remove the whole assembly.

So, stupid question - how did you tie it open? Mine doesn't having anything to attach to. I tried it once, it kept falling off. You'll have to show me on Saturday.

All I had were metal wires that you use to hang up a picture and i looped it around the vris and tied it to the opening where you put your hood stand thingy.
Vris number 2 i dont know. Never opened that one up

i tied mine open and i know it made a huge differance. how you ask, well the damn things weren't opening at all. klze still some bugs.

aren't engine swaps fun??? oh well, all worth it in the end...
