First gen upgrade

currently i am driving my 1996 se and i got alot of work and a little bit of money into it. now i ant stupid or any thing but recantly i feel into a 1st gen probe turbo SOHC. now they want 200 dollars cash for it (but i think they will take 100) ;) . the only thing wrong with it is the water pump is out. i test drove it with my buddy who has a 1st gen talon tsi Fwd. we could only drive it for about 1 mile so on the way back i opened her up :lol: ohh myy goddd! these cars rip it up!!! so tell me, should i get it? :tup: or :tdown:

i doubt the only thing wrong is the water pump if he's selling for $200.

not really, im still in high school and this means no bills yet!!! i have a bunch of money saved up for college saved up but i work full time and so i make enough to easly be happy! the thing is that my friend re-built his tsi trans in his shop at r&b auto and he said that it might take a week to do it but it would be just over 1000 for a centerforce clutch to be thrown in there also!!! :idea:

yeah 200 bucks and the only issue is waterpump? very hard to believe, but if you have the money to spend do it, itll blow the doors off your SE

I think theyre about $65 from Advance Autoparts. Id say go for it. Hell, even if theres more wrong with it, $200 doesnt put you that much in the hole. Gut the fucker out and youll have a fast ass little car. I have a fairly modded 89GT and that thing RIPS. Beats the shit outta my old 93GT, which was very quick as well.

Hay i just want to know what you guys think the 91 gt can handle? i mean what does it stand next to in a race; a mustang gt, a talon tsi, a grand prix gtp? these are some ideas for an open discussion so give your thoughts! :thup:

stock for stock you can hang with a mustang gt depending on the year, an old fox body 5.0 gt for sure, some of the 94-98gt's with the 4.6 yea, tsi would be a good race but there are 2 variables there, if th e tsi is awd it'll rape you out of the hole but due to drivetrain loss you'll kill it from a roll wheras a 2wd will mostly be dead even out of the hole and who knows from there, i dunno bout the gtp though it would be a good race.
but then again, more variables, auto's are slower that manuals(if the guy can drive a stick) and there is always room for driver error with a stick, i've ground a few gears in my day trying to find that shift, lol, wait till it pops in THEN let out the clutch, i gotta remember that.

Well, Ive pulled even with 3KGT VR4s (first gen), beat a WRX by a little, killed GTPs, killed a modded LT1 Camaro, killed TSis, and beat a few other non worth it cars. All of this only on about 13psi, when I should be able to run about 16psi. They are fast little cars.
