I go throught St Farm as well. Rates on my Ram/Durango/Charger would be so far off of a Probe, that I won't even bring them up... ;)

Progressive is the best insurance company on the planet.

After various motor vehicle infractions, Progressive was the only company that would insure me. However, since I've been with them longer and longer, the discounts and rate discounts have been raining down and my insurance is now Super Cheap. In fact, they have a different pricing structure from other companies that does not punish you for points as severly or for as long a period of time. And if you have good credit history, that trumps a few speeding tickets.
They have expanded from only serving High-Risk customers, to offering extreemly competitive rates for Squeaky Clean customers as well. I would bet money that they have the lowest rate regardless of your driving record, or lack of one. Their customer service is excellent, and while I have never had to file a claim, based on my experience with them over the last 4 years, I have every reason to expect A1 service in that area as well.
I also insure my motorcycle with Progressive.

I've heard this is the worst part of using progressive. Sure they have the lowest rates and will insure ANYONE, but good luck getting money out of them.
I use state farm and they are pretty damn expensive, but I have a $250 deductable and they never have any problems paying for stuff. With my car I have had a few problems that they have paid for without any problem.
I've thought about switching though because they do cost a lot more.

I don't know Kirk. I have to deal with insurance companies whenever somebody who has a loan with me has an accident, because normally the check comes to the bank - and always if it is totaled. I've been jerked around more by State Farm than any other company. Those guys always fuck their customers and low ball them.
I can think of 3 seperate times that Progressive called me for the payoff, and the check showed up no hassle like 3 days later.
With State Farm, at least twice -- they have dragged it out 2 weeks, and then refused to pay off the loan completely and one guy ended up fucked for like $2,500 bucks because they claimed that his car had depreciated too much because he had put so many miles on it. They took the milage adjustment from the book off the settlement. Most insurance companies don't look at the milage, and just settle for book value considering "average" mileage.
So - Good luck with them....

USAA $120/month full coverage on the Lexus. When my Probe was totalled the other guy had State Farm. His agent was a pain in the ass to deal with so I went past her to their main office and things moved much faster.

I have American Family Insurance.:)
My experience with them has been nothing but wonderful. They are efficient, helpful and reliant. I've been in 3 car accidents since I started driving and totaled out all 3 of them. Oh and plus 2 speeding tickets. Since all of that occured they really didn't up my payments.:)
I pay $139.00 for full coverage on my '94 Probe a month.

WOW!! for my probe, I was paying full coverage for 34.00 a month. FULL coverage too! but with 3 accidents and 2 speeding tickets... that makes the rate go up.

Well, I do think different things go into consideration though.
Like for instance, you are a cop. How many things have you gotten yourself out of or avoided? I've only been driving for 4 years and my first car I paid insurance on was about $120.00/mo. You ARE older than me too Jay. States could be different too and what part you live in. Are you in the country or city? That determines price also I believe.
What does your full coverage insurance all include?
..I'm guessing that it's your police officer position that bends your insurance way lower.:)

Being a Cop doesn't really reduces anything, it actually goes up because of the risk. My life insurance went up went I moved here out on the Reservation. True, My insurance before i was 25 on the probe was 60.00 a month full coverage. I haven't gotten out of anything. I did get a ticket from my cousin for exhibition driving back in my home town so did he give me a break? No, and that made my insurance go up abit.

Again, I'm with Progressive -- I forget how it breaks down, but I pay $150/mo combined for full coverage on my truck, and liability only on Ann's 92 protege. It went up a little when I quadrupled our limits. I had the state minimum when my driving record was bad, but now I've got my coverages jacked way up there. It would suck to have a serious accident and be under-insured.

I have AmFam, but our agent is a friend so that helps things. So far so good, but we've never had to file a claim or anything.
