I found this link through club3g.com that has each state's window tint laws. I thought some of us might find it useful. I, personally, have taken tint off sevaral times in MN, whether I knew the law or not. One time I even had to remove $300 in 2% tint literally a week after I got it done.

If you're getting a ticket for tint, it's too dark. The car looks just as good with 20% or 5%. (Personally I dont even klike having 5%, since its hard to see out the windows at night, especially the rear window. I'm getting 20% this summer)
Ok I stand corrected. I wasnt aware that anything over 50% was illegal. That's gay. I was under the assumption that 20% was the limit.

yeah i knew it was too dark, he used the meter on my window, got like a 32 or 34 or somthing, either way 50% state limit is bogus...
Edit: just saw youre edit, and yeah the limit would be better at 20

Anyone know a few reputable shops for having your windows tinted in the metro area?

I got mine done (4 years ago) through "a guy" my friend knew and he was sweet: on site, two 1/2 hours (for five 2g probe windows), $300.

I'm not sure that the website is 100% accurate as I thought trucks/vans/etc were exempt from the "back windows" portion. It's not listed that way. If the site is accurate, almost every truck/van sold is not legal in this state. ;)

I used to have an Escort GT that was done in 50% (I think). You could easily see in, but you could actually tell there was tint on it.

I searched through the list and the least lenient states are:
T-1. Pennsylvania
T-1. New York
T-1. Rhode Island
T-4. Minnesota
T-4. Maine
Be thankful we dont live in PA, NY, or RI where tint must allow in 70% or greater! It seems to be a north east coast thing.

all you gotta do is register your car in Nevada, therefore only their car laws apply to you...

Most of the shops will do it around here. Just like paraphanelia... they can sell it, but who says what you do with it is legal or not?

Did you know that you have to [read: should] tell your insurance company about it, as well as many other "mods" that you have?
