Well, I knew it would happen eventually, but I think I either fried the tranny or my clutch is totally slipping in my 94 Toyota 4Runner MTX...

Driving down the highway, speed is capped at like 55mph, feels like no horsepower, I get off at the ramp, it's over revving hardcore. Then, all gears just rev and mph is capped at like 8. Pull into a lot and the ceramic burnt smell is lingering. Double checked rear brakes to see they're not locked (hubs not hot either). Clutch fluid is full, but totally black!

Looks like I got a 1.5G bill coming, right? Since this is really a 2nd vehicle, Im thinking of my options.

Yeah, I knew the tranny would need to be done though. The price I paid is still way under the mkt value after a new clutch.

At 1st I was going to say bring it to the scrap yard, but it seem slike you're saying its still worth fixing.

I would say its fried tho. My old S15 did the same thing. Was going down the freeway, when all of a suddenly it feels like no HP. then when i stop on the shoulder I keep tryin to go and I couldnt make it past 4-6 mph. Mine was an ATX tho, so it may just be your clutch going out

So yep, tranny is funked, probably from mudding in 4WD Low...Never should tried that...

Good news, though, it's only about $1000 to fix.

So Transmission Shop Inc (TSI) in Golden Valley did me up for pretty cheap. I paid $900 for a new clutch and related parts and features. Turnover time was da sh|t yo. They even gave me a courtesy reach-around.

I had TSI in Golden Valley replace my gearbox around Spring Break. Great guys, fast turnaround, and good work. I did not, regretably, receive a reacharound.
