Ok so I've changed my plans and am now going to Rock Falls on July 9th (Weather permitting). Actually, I didnt choose it, but my work decided to schedule me off that day, and NOT the 12th off like I wanted:Pissed: (To go to BIR) so I need to go somewhere.
So far I've managed to talk a buddy into going and one of his buddies, but is anyone else interested? I mean, you have no xcuse for this one, as where BIR I could understand nobody being interested (Hell, who wants to drive 2 hours for only 4 hours of track time, PLUS its was a wednesday), but this is just next door. I know a couple of you on here may be going, but does is anyone else interested? I like to travel in large groups, not solo......
I know my post-whoring accomplice will read this, so how about you? You should get your dad's car like you were talking about and run it:thup: :D

Is that what day it is there? Maybe thats why I was told it might be a big day.... god that sucks too. I knew a guy that wanted to come with and drag that day, but he's got a souped up Crown Vic... not a sport compact...
Either way, you should go.

Well from the word, it opens at 7am, and I dont know how to get there, so I'll have to follow someone who does know. SO I'd be leaving around 6am I reckon.

I agree with you Rybs, if you're bitching because you can't get many runs due to the sheer volume of cars that attend. However I'd have to dissagree if you have other reasons. ;)
If you go on a Sport Compact day, get there early, and start running ASAP. There's a lot of cars, but you can look forward to at least 6 passes. I've gotten 15 on a Sport Compact Day.
Though this may seem like a lot to some folks, to me it's not, because we're constantly tuning the suspension between runs to make the cars as consistantly fast as possible. This of course kills precious time.
Either way, it's a good time, and not that long of a drive in the grand scheme of things...and best of all, it's LEGAL! :D
Look around for our pit area, we'll have banners and shit up...we're fairly easy to spot. Stop by and say hi!

So what goes on there on the Sport Compact days? From what I was readin on thier site, they have open drags till 9, then time trials till 3, then eliminations for the rest of the day?:wtf:

I'd be pissed. For 40 bux I want at least 10 passes. But I assume if we get there at the start at 630 or 7, then we should be able to get some passes in b4 everyone gets there

Just wondering, how many did you get in at BIR when you went? I mean, you only get 5 hours there (5am-10pm) so I wouldnt image its too many

Sorry.... didnt know that....:bd:
Last time I went you were only allowed 3 time trials, then it was straight to eliminations. Sure enough, I got knocked out first round. So I ended up with a total of 4 runs. Also, the starting line had more water on it then the burn out box. It was still fun though.
Ps: They don’t start racing until 9:00 am. It is a good idea to get there early and find a spot, get teched, etc, but not that early.

So my friends and I are leaving brooklyn park at 7. Other people can meet up with us if you guys want.
i could mabey pick 1 or 2 people up and we could caravan over the track as long as the passengers put about $5 or $10bucksin the tank just because gas is so much these days:)

I thought your dad's was a muscle car? I was under the impression that the only things allowed were imports or "sport compacts".
As for pricing, it's $37 to race, and 10 to watch. It'd probably be an hour or 2 from Rochester, as it's only 45m-1h from the cities.

For clarification, sport compact is not distinguished by drivetrain. The vehicle must be a compact car. FWD/RWD/AWD does not matter, nor does the number of doors.

I've gotta do some MAAAAJJJOOORRR work today on the car tho. Looked at the Rock Fallas sight again this morning, and found some horrible info.
Since I relocated my battery to the trunk, I have to install
1) A Master electrical cutoff that has to hang out the back of the car
2) I have to have the battery in a METAL box.... wtf is that about? I have a plastic one now, and I cant find anyplace around here that has a metal one for CHEAP> I could getone from summitracingonline, but they want 80 bux for em...

ALSO does anyone know of any place where I could find a cheap metal battery box? I cant find anyplace that sells em and I dont wanna take the work o relocating my battery BACK to under the hood, cuz I'd have to remove my CAI....
Or anyone where I could borrow one?

forgive me but what gen probe do you have? I assume its not a 2 gen as you wouldnt need to relocate the battery just for a CAI. And i dont know anyone here whos relocated the battery at all let alone had a battery box. Easiest and cheapest route may be to find somone whos handy and bring em a sheet of metal and see what they could do. Otherwise all i can think of is checking the autozones, napas etc to see if they carry anything like that.
yeah i unfortunatley wont be able to attend, gots other commitments to fullfill:) good luck and have fun!!

No, it's a 1st gen. I did manage to find a budy who had one made for his Mustang and it'll fit. Only problem now is I dont have the master custoff switch which is also required (GRRRRRRRRRRRRR). But I'm gonna try tonite and see if I can manage the CAI w/o the battry being relocated to the trunk. I honestly see no way to do it, but we'll see.
Napa, AutoZone, Bumper-Bumper, Walmart, Target.... none sell em. Just plastic.
