View Full Version : help put the fiat back together?

well im expecting parts for my fiat to be in midweek, so friday 21st, saturday and sunday 23rd im gonna plan on putting it ALL back together, and firing it up by sunday night...

took me 2 days to get the thing out of the car, its not that tough, just an extra hand is always welcome

i will have food, a grill, and you bring your own booze

the car is at my uncle's house in B.C. shrep, youve been there before

plans are as follows, lift the rear of the car up, slide the engine/tranny assembly under, and lower the car onto it, and lift the engine up, i got a solid method of lifting it so dont worry about that

the assembly is gonna bolted to the crossmember, and that is held in place by 4 bolts, theres a motor mount on the side that is only 1 bolt, and a dogbone mount which is 2 bolts

fluids, bleeding the coolant and timing, adjusting the carb, and figure out where the wires go after its in

since its a small car, im gonna limit this to 3 people, any more, and it gets cumbersome and everyone will get everyone elses way

Dang.I have a wedding to go to up in Brainerd that weekend, otherwise I'd be there for sure...

I could prolly come sunday...but idk how much help I would be besides getting tools for you...and sometimes I'm pretty bad at that...

ok, i got word from the shipper, i should see it before the weekend.. so if you are truely interested in helping out, PM me and ill give you my phone number
nick, now there are a few things wrong with the 80
1. its 1.5L, sure its nice to have a little extra power, however the block is cast iron, so not really that light
2. the 5spd, sure its nice to have those extra gears for freeway cruising.. but again, weight...
3. the carburetor is smaller than the one on my 78.. LOL
4. if its in any condition that i would think, i would pass on it, as it would have a bad reverse as well, and rust galore
