*update* i gotta drop the transmission again, it was assmebled improperly, the shift fork for 1st/2nd gear is in the wrong position, or not moving right

so it runs, but not very well, its carb related from what i can gather, i am also tracking down oil leaks again i traced them down to the fuel pump(mechanical) or in that vicinity

Is it just me, or is that exhaust dangerously low to the ground?

So can that thing top out the speedo? It looks like the speedo says either 80 or 120 at the tops...
wannabfast
08/06/2006, 11:41 PM
it goes up to 140, and no it cant, the old speedometer went up to 80, an that can bury the needle
the top speed is around 90

Not bad for a car that small.

Thats about the same power my friends 63 mgb makes and it tops out arround there aswell... Well, thats all the faster we'll take her cause it's shaking so bad by just 90

I was gonna buy an MGB a few years back but never did... those are neat little cars...
So is that an aftermarket speedo then, or from a newer year/model?

the cluster is from a newer x1/9, the stock cluster goes up to 130, i think theres something about having a needle point straight down off the gauge

I hate it when it goes off the gauge... I like to know exactly what speed I'm going...

ok, its running very nicely at the moment, i gotta do the exhaust still, and upgrade the alternator! i got a GM alternator ready to go in, i just gotta modify the bracketry and make an adjusting bracket and that will solve all my european electrical issues.. woot
defiler
08/12/2006, 12:06 AM
What kind of problems are those? Do the European vehicles run at a different voltage as the US?
wannabfast
08/12/2006, 12:54 AM
well its mainly old european electricals.. they used to use the body as the positive instead of ground, but this is not the case in this its just that every electrical device i turn on drains like 2v from the system... which SUCKS so driving at night is just sucky but ive taken the approprate steps to ensure that it stays at a decent voltage i.e having another wire to distribute the power better
