Hey guys well as of lately, I got the engine lift from dan.. It's a NICE lift and I'd like to get it back to him ASAP. Buuut now I'm running into all kinds of trouble lol.. This car is like a demon child from hell that doesn't want me to fix it, seems so atleast.. I either can't find the part I need to take off (I understand thats my dumbass fault ) To just the part not comming off without any coaxing at all! (again, i'm sure its just me and one of you could come up and pull the peice off in 3 seconds haha)
Anyways. I've got my schedual through oct. 6th and I have a few days off that I was wondering if we could have a little get together over here at my place...
I figured we could do something like meet up arround 2ish to have a bbq/ chit chat what ever then after we've all eaten and everything if anyone could, I would REALLY apreciate it help me get this engine swap done.. Or atleast get the old engine out of the car so I can part it out on fleabay to make some moolah... If I can find enough people, I can get you older guys some beers/hard lemonades if ya want...(parents lol) just let me know what kind you guys would like and I can get them..
one weekend that would be the best for me to do it would be next weekend Sept. 16/17th as I have that whole weekend off.
Let me know if you guys would be down for that? Help a brotha out and get have a little meet.. it'd be fun right? :bd: :bd: haha
later guys

Don't know if I can make it yet but make sure that you have a heavy duty breaker bar to break the axle nut off to take out the axles. I went through 2 breaker bars before we borrowed a 1 inch ratchet set used for fire engines to get it off. A torch might come in handy as well. Another thing that I had trouble with was geting the power steering hose off without messing the piss out of it. I'm not sure if you have a 2.0 or 2.5, but I did a ZE swap.
Although It's going to cost some dough, I would suggest that you replace anything that you can now before swapping that can be a pain in the ass to do later if it breaks i.e. water pump, timing belt, head gaskets, clutch, etc...
my 800 dollar engine was close to like a 1600 install once I paid for everything else. And now I regret not doing the head gaskets at the same time because they are going now and it's going to cost a grip of money to replace so I just got to find time to do it myself instead and it will be alot harder now that the engine is dropped in. Anyways, good luck w/ the install.

Oh yeah, those nuts were a bitch.. Had my big football friend help me get those off. Thats what I had planned to do, fix up all that stuff*. Even if we could just get it out and on an engine stand so I can take the parts off it that would be great.

He's got a 2.5 IIRC. And a ZE is out of his price range.

625 ft/lbs impact wrench will do the job. Or a huge breaker bar I suppose. I never had one big enough:eek:

And it would be good to have a high speed and cutoff wheel when you cant get your sway-bar endlinks off..

It took that 1 inch breaker bar, a six foot extension bar, half a can of liquid wrench, and 2 people to bust the axle nut. For the sake of the ears of any little children in your neighborhood, I'm hoping yours will be easier. If you are planning on installing a light weight under-drive pulley, it would be best to do that before taking the engine out so that you have the motor secure and in gear to get enough torque to loosen that bolt. If you ever plan on doing headers, now is the only time to do it if you want to still have scarless hands and knuckes.
I suggest that you spray all bolts prior to the pull. The cat bolts were very hard to get off and the crossmember bolts were a bitch too. I broke one of them in the process of removal.
I hope you have some good tools with warranties because you'll probably be needing them. I'm not trying to scare you, just warning you that you'll need patience and proper equipment to undertake the task.
I'm not sure what your mechanical level of expertise is but it took me 3 good weekends to do the swap completely. I took my time to mark everything and replace what I could and I was still learning alot as I went so it may take you less time.

Yep, i've got all craftsman branded tools. Only thing i'm going to have to find will be a compressor and the tools for that I think. But none the less, my best friends dad is a ford mechanic so if I need any special tools, I can get them.
Edit: Also forgot to mention.. I'm almost done doing it. I have almost all the things disconnected from it, electronics, hoses ect. All that should need to be done is getting the tranny and stuff all unhooked from everything but the engine.

For sure do that crank pulley now. We pulled the engine and then tried doing it, and it was nearly impossible. Even an impact wrench couldnt take it off.

Hmm, so you are going to leave the tranny in? I've always pulled them together and swapped when they were out. Is it easier to leave it in?

I pulled them out together too. It will probably be easier that way. Just make sure you have the Alt and A/c pump pulled off so you won't have clearance issues.
