Hi guys, I'm a potential Probe GT owner...I have an opportunity to purchase one locally, and I need some info/advice. The car I'm looking at has some bubbling paint on the exterior sun roof panel. I've been told this is very common on Probes and that it's not a very expensive fix. Other than that, the car is very nice and in good condition. No other paint issues. How common is the sunroof paint problem, and how big a repair is it? Thanks in advance for the info.

Yes, that is a HUGE problem. It's bubbling more than likely from rusting out. WHich means chances are the car is already rusted out inder the paint. My old sunroof did it too. I think its from moisture puddling up next to the sunroof. It may be cheap to fix if you're handy with body work. Or it may be just as easy as removing the bubbled paint, sanding it down and then priming/painting over the stufff. Unless you tear off the bubbled paint and see whats under there, theres noway to know for sure...
its not just a probe problem. Its a problem with most cars with sunroofs.

Sunroof panels are probably the area most prone to rusting on probes. That and the hatch.

Its probably because theyre the areas most prone to water puddling.
