As the title states. I have set up a dyno day for us at MAPerformance in Plymouth for May 6th. Yes, that is a SUNDAY, which most of you said would be a preferable day, and it's over a MONTH in advance. So no excuses! I want to see you all there! They open at 10am, so thats when we'll be there. They say it's about 15-20 minutes per car, so if you cant make it then, it'd probably be OK if you were there by 11 or so. I'll be going last, so dont make me wait too long!

Price is $50/3pulls. Depending on how quick it goes, they said we might be able to get some more pulls in afterwards:thup:

Adress for them is:

9855 13th Ave N
Plymouth, MN 55441

Phone is: 763-545-3800

It's pretty much 3 blocks off 169 in the business center. I take 394 to get there, and 494 is only a few more minutes down the road...

I told them we would have 10 people at a minimum, so we need to have that many! So find some people who can come!

I mentioned it in the other post, but forgot to re-post it here. The dyno there is ONLY for 2WD vehicles. It is not AWD-capable.

2nd post in here I'll keep updated with the list of people, and thier possibility of coming.

I'm pretty sure you meant 10am, no? Also have you seen their dyno? Does it look like it would have problems getting a low car on it? I only have about 4 fingers worth of clearance at the lowest point on my bumper.

defiler

Their dyno is built into the floor:thup: So I dont think you'd have any problem with it:lol:

And yes, 10am. I know I know... some of you dont wake up untill later than that on weekends, but this is for a good cause:D

I'm going to request the day off work tomorrow. Also, I talked to my friend with the 3000GT again and he still says he wants in. I need to get my new Clutch Masters Stage 1 clutch and MX-3 flywheel in before that date. I don't want any clutch slippage while I'm on the dyno. Oh yeah.

Mitch, you have enough mods... believe me on that, if nothing else you can get a baseline and see what your newer mods will improve hp-wise.

Pcmmelite, no offense bro but that would be kinda funny, but would suck majorly.

I'm hoping to hit 160 whp/160ft/lbs in my car, but who knows, maybe I'll dyno 130/130 and need to sell my car after that...

You dont have to worry about that. With the DynoJet, Im sure you'll get 160.

Now on the other hand, if we would have gone to LSE (like last year) 130 might have been what came out:lol:

I wish I knew what was wrong. Worst case scenario is that it's bad head gaskets but there is oil in my plug holes in th rear. Turns but doesn't like to start-could be the fuel pump too. All I know is that there's no way it should be as low as it is with all the mods I've done to it. It feels slower than stock but i can't remember that long ago. I don't have a compression tester or anything like that so I need to get it in to see.

I'll at least get a diagnosis soon even if I can't get it fixed.

With my mods, I'd at least like to get 170+

Inside. I pulled my plug wires to switch to the 9mm ones I bought and they were drenched in oil like at least 4 inches up in the spark plug bays:eek: But I think there is some leakage on the out as well. I also notice some coolant pudlles from time to time, but I can't tell if its coming from the water pump or the block somewhere.

Sounds like bad valve cover gaskets to me.

That's usually the big symptom of VCG's going bad on 2nd gens. Oil in the plug wells that is. My plugs were swimming in oil, put on new gaskets and bingo, well for me at least.

on the 2nd gen probe if you have oil in the spark plug wells it's VCG's 99% of the time. I don't know anything about any other cars.

Just curious, because when my VC gasket was bad on my 89, the hole was soaked, but the inside was perfectly dry:confused:

Yes. 10AM. I just noticed I had put PM down :smack:

By the way how far are you yet?
Hard to tell... still waiting on all the parts to arrive so I can finish putting it together... the motor itself is all assembled minus the intake and exhaust manifolds, since when I pulled them off I found out that 1/2 the studs were gone:eek: SO i have to either go to Mazda to buy new ones or pull them at the junkyard (Probably get the exhaust ones from Mazda and the intake from the junkyard). Also found out that Im probably going to need to run MS instead of the chip the whole time, since Im not sure the stock ECU is going to enjoy having the external wastegate on there...

Passenger side came off fine with nothing more than a standard breaker bar, but on the drivers side nothing works, and I'm not gonna bring my dad's 1000 lbs impact over there

defiler

Maybe it wont be. I'm not sure yet. One of my buddies that did it to his said the car wouldnt run right with the external dumping to atmosphere. Maybe something to do with the ECU? Dunno. I'm going to try it and see what happens in the coming weeks.

1 thing I have to get cleared up is the results issue. Last dyno day there, the printer was broke so the dyno sheets weren't immediatley available, and were only able to be recieved by email (gay gay gay). When my BOV comes in there next week I'll ask for sure.

And since I'm bored, I'll post some generic directions:

If coming from 394:
-Take 394 - 169 North.
-Follow 169North for approximately 30 seconds or so (Its like the 3rd exit once you get on)
-Take Plymouth Road/13th Ave Exit on Right.
-Follow Exit for approx. 1/4mile (Fucked up exit, let me tell you...)
-Go untill you hit a stop light.
-Take a left at stoplight.
-Go under bridge (duh)
-In about a block or so the road will fork. One side will be a little hook to the right, one will hook to the left. Follow to the left. -Take the 1st right into the rear parking lot of big grey building (If you cross the railroad tracks, you've gone too far. As in, about 50ft too far)
-This is the parking lot. Look for thier sign on the building and park somewhere:thup:

If coming from 169:
Same directions. Just take a right onto Plymouth Rd/13th Ave

To the dyno place, it will take us about 1hr-1 1/2hrs to get there. Maybee...... i just wont sleep....becuase i would have to be at my place by 8:30 to shower, and then at jims by 9 to leave. To even be safer i would have to be home at 8 to leave from jims at 8:30, so we have enough time to find the place. I'll figure it out.

Cool cool. See you guys there:thup:

Awesome.

My friend and I are going out to get drunk right now so we probably won't make it there until 11:00 AM. But we'll for sure be there. A Sunday afternoon cruise sounds awesome as long as the weather is decent. The MN 3/S (3000GT / Stealth) cruise was today. A ton of fun.
Great. Depending on how many people show up right away (And when the shop owners get there:lol: ) I might just hold off starting untill 11.

Not at all. On that note: My day obviously didn't start out all that great. Obviously. I thought it would get better. First, the hood incident. Kinda pissed me off but w/e. Get the dyno going and I'll get my car on.

Dyno my car. Ok the numbers look ok but WTF is the deal with the knock sensor.

On top of that, I just got home. A little south of Mankato my fuggin car dies. WTFH! :Pissed: Seems the alternator just up and died. The really horrible part was that it happened maybe 1/8th of a mile from where my Civic blew up!

:Pissed: Fug.

Well the battery went dead enough to kill the electronics so I pulled over and started calling people. I went to look at it and wiggled some wires. It started back up and was charging again, and did so for about 10 miles then went back off so I just drove on the battery the rest of the way. Although I think it was throwing out a very little charge because I don't think I'd have been able to make it that far otherwise. I'd guess letting it cool was what did the trick.

Holy cripes the MS3 went 260/260? Wow is that stock, thats really good. Damn I was sooo close to the 160 I wanted. It was pretty funny seeing the CRX go 88 hp on the first pull. I was like wtf? No VTEC? Then he got some good numbers, I was guessing 130 for his. His numbers were pretty good for a stock b16a with intake only.

The Probes were damn close. Did anyone happen to catch my torque? I'm not sure but I wanna say 152... Ill see what the graph says. We all three had close to the same mods except my ZE mani helped me out a bit, it had a pretty fat powerband even with both vris tied open. You need to get one of these. All of our numbers were pretty close to a bone stock unmodded ZE for comparison's sake.

Jeeezzzee I want a MS3. Those are some really really nice numbers. Haha Ryan where do you work at cuz I need to figure out how to afford one of those bishes lol.

Yeah VTEC is really pronounced on the rex, it does sound pretty good when the big lobes kick in. He had em pull until 6500 when they got vtec to work right (true ricer excuse)but it was still gaining power so they did it again only until about 7800 and got some nice results from that. Haha no vtec=88 whp vtec=145 whp what a big difference. We didn't end up getting the header on in time but with some mods this car is gonna really scream weighing only 2k pounds.

Also I was pretty impressed with Lance's car, I wouldn't have guessed 181 hp at first but as soon as I heard him on the dyno, it was like yep its got more power than mine

I just got mine. Max Power = 152.57 / Max Torque = 154.06.

So what's the difference with the curved neck? I heard that it's more for high end power while the straight neck delivers better low end power. Is that true?

Edit: Whoops. I did some searching and found that it's actually the other way around. If your curved neck is loaded with operational VRIS and fuel rails, etc. I'll take it. Of course, I have no idea how to install it but I'd be more than willing to compensate you for your time.

I was just looking up dyno sheets on PT and they all tend to look like my 4th gear pull. I don't think it's a timing problem, or the knock sensor kicking in. I think it has to be something with the VRIS system.

I saw some people bitching on PT about the #'s too (Being inflated).

Since I'm not allowed on there, someone tell them for me to stick their complaints up thier ass. The dyno is obviously accurate, since all THREE 2g's were nearly identical, and it was done on the DynoJet, which is what ALL the people on PT use to get thier #'s.

Yeah bro, thats the vris right there. Mine didn't do that since I tied mine open on the runs i did. You have surges at 3250 (vris #1 opens at 3250) 4250 (vris #2 opens at 4250) and at 6250 (both vris close at 6250) the dyno sheet is fine as is your car.

Hey Moz...

You really should put that ZE intake manifold that you have on your car. I was comparing our dyno sheets a little, and it appears that a ZE manifold equipped car makes 15-20 more horsepower on some spots on the powerband than a DE manifold car!! This thing really helps out in the upper rpms

Hehe, it needs to be cleaned up. I'm waiting on my VCGs anyhow, I may do it then. EGR might be a pain. I really can't decide though. I'm hoping to turbo it. Probably with an FMU for the time being. It'll be awhile though.

I dunno. I'm having issues. I think it's running too rich, first off. My VAF is screwy right now, just waiting on a new one. I keep getting a code 17 but my O2's are pretty new. I searched and some believe a malfunctioning FPR could cause it. That or my fuel injectors are shot; fuel pressure seems to bleed off fast. I also got shit for fuel mileage on that trip so I'm positive it's rich.

That's my best guess.
