I have this posted on a few other boards too cuz I really need to vent. Ughhh here it goes.
Today was my sister's graduation from high school, mucho congrats to her since she is only 16 years old. Anyways after the graduation ceremony my family takes us out to eat. Naturally I drive my car since I just LOVE driving it. We ate our meal and leave the restaurant. I start up my car and slowly back it out of the spot. We make a slight turn to exit the parking lot and hit a stop sign. I start to move ahead when I notice the problem.
The tires are just seeming odd, it felt like wheelspin on some sand. Still moving slowly I coast into another parking lot and glance in the rearview, nope no sand. The steering seems to be pulling slightly and not so pleasant noises are coming from the tires. WTF is going on here? My girlfiend insists I just got a flat tire and we slowly turn the car half assedly into a parking spot. I get out to check the brand new tires fearing the worst. My fears are alleviated when I see all are inflated. So my girlfriend and I go back into the car to just go home. I hit the clutch and slowly begin the process of moving, but nothing. The car seems to surge ahead like it wants to go but just can't.
Anyone know what it is?
I have my girlfriend get out of the car and watch the tires as I move the steering wheel. She quickly informs me that my driver's side tire isn't moving. SHEEEIIT.... I leave the car and check it out and sure as hell, the effing outer tie rod snapped. Now mind you this is now the second drivers side tie rod I've snapped, first was the inner now its the outer AFTER Tires Plus supposedly changed both when I first got the car, I think not... Freakin sweet!
She calls her AAA (God bless AAA) and after about an hour of waiting inside some movie theater the tow truck comes. He rigs it up and pulls it up onto the flatbed. I'm thinking cool its a free tow home and then I can get to wrenching but here is where things get really nasty.
He maneuvers the wrecker so he can begin the decent of the car into the driveway. He begins to slowly lower the car down the flatbed and as it nears the bottom of the bed I start to hear crunching and grinding noises. Scrambling to figure out what it is I see that the whole weight of the car is being supported by the damn exhaust tip and it has deeply dug into my driveway At this point my dad comes outside to look things over. Well the wrecker has me jump in the car to modulate the brakes and pulls the car back up the bed. He places boards near the rear wheels to act as a ramp to get my low low car into the driveway. It works wonderfully and the exhaust clears the ground. The driver goes to the drivers side front and put boards under the front tires my dad goes to the passengers side and does the same. Now I'm not sure what happened next but it pisses me off the worst out of everything. I assume on my dad's side the board was placed wrongly and upon my decent the board caught the corner of the bumper cover and peeled the bumper cover right off of the car, absolutely destroying the bumper mounting point near the wheelwell... FAWK!!!!
So at this point thoroughly pissed off I decided to not even mess with it right now with my current state of pissed-offedness so my girlfriend and I leave to go fix her own car. My dad says he is gonna work on my car and I tell him to just leave it alone and I'll deal with it when I get home. I get a call from my dad about an hour later, he tells me that I should have stayed and helped since he had the front end of my car apart and was on his way to the parts store to pick up two new outer tie rods. I thank him and let him go. He calls back about another hour later and tells me its fully together and all he needs to do is figure out how to "keep the bumper from flapping in the wind"
I come home and see his solution... three nice holes straight through my bumper with damn zip ties in em. I inspect em and now my blood is absolutely boiling... because these strategically placed zip ties are doing nothing but merely holding the skin and skeleton of the cover together. I look and he used the stock mounting point to hold the cover to the car, not sure how he did that considering it just got destroyed. Using that point will keep the skin and the skeleton together without using stinking zip ties. So I blow right up, I was calm the whole time right up until now showing ZERO emotion, it was one of those "straw that breaks the camel's back" moments. I give him the money for the parts and just get the hell out since now I'm really really steaming.
I calm down and thankfully I'm not much of a stubborn person and I go to make amends with him. I understand he is just trying to help me out and actually does install my tie rods so that's really nice of him.
Also now that the outer's are on the car, this marks the 3rd time in the last six months that my car is gonna need an alignment, BLAH!! And this all happened after I spent a bunch of time fixing up my car and buying new rims and stuff.
Cliffs Notes
Outer tie rod breaks *Tyler is mad*
Muffler is smashed into the pavement by tow truck *Tyler is really mad*
Bumper cover is ripped off by tow truck* Tyler is FUMING mad*
Holes are drilled into bumper*Tyler SNAPS*
Tyler apologizes *Cooler heads prevail*
