So i have a question. I was recently working on the Cougar taking the water pump off and i snapped one bolt, just one, off inside the water pump and block. the bolt was extremely rust shot and locked up in the block. i believe that i can still just pull the water pump off. But my question is does anyone have any ides to get the bolt out of the block without damaging the block and the threads in the block so i can put the new water pump on? I'm really in a jam here. any help would be great. Thank you all for any help or advice you may be able to give me in advance. I will post pics soon. mind you the cougar is a lil rough around the edges but it is going to be restored. And the probe is on its way. i will post pics of that as well.

you could try drilling it out...

If you go to menards or something I think they sell bits made exactly for that. They basically screw into the bolt and twist the whole thing out

Its called an EZ-Out, or bolt extractor.
You drill directly into the bolt with a bit smaller than the bolt, then insert the bolt extractor, screwing it in. Then you unscrew it, which in doing so locks onto the side of whats left on the bolt and unscrews the bolt (it has reverse threads for this purpose). You just have to make sure to drill out the bolt as far as possible so you can use the largest possible extractor for the bolt.
Because if you think drilling int a bolt is hard, try drilling into an extractor:lol:

^^ I speak from experience:( The bit that was needed to drill out the extractor was more expensive than the whole extractor set:lol:

yea man from my experience, heat works wonders. Get it red hot and then try to twist it out.

Get it red-hot, then spray some WD40 on it. That should "shock" the threads loose even better than the heat alone.

I was going to say, if it was a bolt that held in the pump, if you pulled the pump, wouldn't you have like 2 inches of bolt left to grab with a vice grips?
