so come this spring when the weather is amazing and i have more cash, im going to go to the body shop. im getting me right door panel skirt type thing put on that says GT. im also going to hopefully get the HUGE dents out of my back right and left, and also hopefully get all the dents out of my hood and also hopefully bondo up my front right headlight roof thing. so im telling u this because my left door says GT and the panel i bought off ebay for the right side doesnt. Ive seen probes on like probetalk.com and they have like a little custom gt sticker. where can i get these stickers or should i remove the sticker off the left side??

you dont need a shop to put those ground FX on youre talking about. And if youve got dents in the rear quarter pannels that you want a shop to fix I hope youve got alot of money. Save yourself some cash and do all that shit yourself and just fill those dents in, then have someplace paint it for you. you can get those GT stickers off of a few different sites. I know they are on probetalk someplace, just have to search.

That dent wouldn't be hard at all to just fill in. And there isn't a picture of your hood.. That I can see.

i took out the hood one cuz it looked like u had a perfect hood in the pic which i dont. my cardomain has the pic of my hood

Oh ok. Well the pictures on cardomain wouldn't load up for me. But yeah, that one on the quarter panel wouldn't be hard at all to fix... Hell, this summer I could maybe even help you/ do it for you..

cant really see your hood in the cardomain either...bought my car with absolutely no dents or knicks, minor if any scratches and stress cracking in the rear bumper. bought my car on a Tuesday, went on weekend vacation(fri. sat. sun.) i dont know if you all remember that really bad rainstorm (dont recall exactly) where there was inches of rain and bad hail..anyways, had to leave my car outside cause my parents vehicles were in the garage, came home with hail damage everywhere and of course i dont have full coverage, trust me, your hood isn't bad til you've seen mine, it looks like someone dropped a bunch of golf balls all over my hood and sunroof. and the rear hatch, it sucks donky balls.

the first pic is of my front left headlight roof
all the dots u see in 2nd pic are dents on my hood
the 3rd is my dented to hell back left quarter panel
the the 4th if u can tell, is my peeling paint on my sunroof from bieng outside 2much(thats wat i think)

my sunroof is the ONLY rust on my car and the only thing peeling, i've debated having a shop just sand it down and touch it up but I'm guessing they'll want a fortune.

i did body work on my old chevy cavalier and painted it in my garage.
if you need any help at all let me know this spring. i went to dctc for autobody. i took the highschool course, which was enough to make a rusted out and dented WAY worse than your car, mint again.

what'd you think of dctc? i'm trying to find a way to go there instead of RCTC

ehh, i think dctc is easy, if your looking to find a job that fits your area of work, i wouldnt consider dctc. alot of employers look at dctc as a school where you get a diploma easily.
the only programs that are good and will baseically guarentee you a job is the railroad one and truck driver course. honestly, it depends on what job your looking for.. or what field you want to work in.

hmmm i thought of it as an upgrade of RCTC, i'm going for a certified automotive mechanic.

ASEP?
i think for that course you need a sponsor or something, my friend did that but the fool dropped out. the automotive classes are pretty good. the only thing i dont like is how they say its "hands on" but you take TONS and TONS of notes.

so how much do u want for the body work? and also, u dont have the materials to paint match my paint already on the car to what u'd be sanding and crap. or would i have to pay like a shop to paint 4 me?
Memory95PGT
01/22/2008, 10:07 PM
i can get the correct color from my work.. ( i work at carquest and i can get ppg paint or napa) the color is going to be fresh, so it will look different but it will be the same color, just w/o the wear and tear.
as for money or what ever, i dont ask a whole lot, im mostly just looking for experience. put it this way, i just did a bunch of body work on my buddys mx-3 and painted it for free. i'd be willing to work on it for nothing, as long as someone is paying for materials.
about painting: i did my cavalier in my garage, not really a good decision, lots of dust ended up in the paint. i dont have a paint booth to do it in. so no matter what it's not going to come out perfect. unless i spray lots of clear coat and wetsand the hell out of it. but still, it wont be a perfect job. might be better off paying someone else to do it, if your going for a mint car.

man i just want the dents out and then kinda painted around it. i suppose it doesnt work that way
Memory95PGT
01/23/2008, 12:06 AM
well, it would look much better if the entire thing was painted. we COULD paint seperate panels by tapeing off the rest of the car, but the paint wouldnt look right... a full repray would be ace.
honestly, im pretty good at painting and such, if you can find a garage i could do it. but like i said, in a garage its not gunna be perfect..
this thing about my cavalier was: it was a black car, anything and everything shows up in that paint. but i still got TONS of comments on that car. i bet if we painted your car in a garage and gave it a good wetsand and buff it would look fresh.
btw: paints and such is going to be 400-500. ill get a qoute tomorrow for your color. haveing a shop do it is the cost of paint and labor... let me know.

yea u DO NOT have to get a qoute. i jst want the dents out and whatever i have to do to get them out thats fine. in the spring when its warmer/more$$,ill go to a body shop and see wat they can do for me so really i dont think this is gunna happen in the winter or within the next month. i dont have alot of cash rite now but i want performance before looks. i guess u could say this was a kinda early post. i mean im not doing the body work until like spring. thanks a junk load for the support as of helping me btw

For all that body work you are looking around $500-1000 at least. So start saving.

so i just stumbled on this ebay site. u guys know how i have the 2 huge dents in the back right and left? well would this work??? its for a 97. will it fit?

also, can i get this 1997 headlight lid thing? will it fit????its below \./

The head light cover will work just fine.
The rear quarter panel...dude do you realize how much work it is to get that out? I don't even think the guy parting out the car realizes how much work that is. It would take you almost a month to get that out, and back in to make it look nice. Just have ford take care of the dent, and get it resprayed. You are in way over your head.
96pgt@dd1ct
02/05/2008, 09:46 PM
lol yea i kinda thought so. but yea ford qouted me on the 2 dents. they are freekin $500 dents!!! 250 for each. its so much because they are very deep and sharp pointed dents. and even when they get the dents out, there will still be a little dimple where it was.
96pgt@dd1ct
02/05/2008, 09:52 PM
u guys think $70 bucks is too much for that headlight roof thing? i mean its already the same color. and i wouldnt have to take it to the ford dealer to get it painted.
but i mean if i get one at the junkyard and its not the rite color but i get it for like 5 dollars, which one would u think is the best deal????
junkyard or this one?

If they told you $500 for the two dents and that included painting the quarters, that is cheap..... I KNOW I wouldn't quote it for that and I write bodyshop estimates.

I say take your panels off and get them looking better, I had a dented rear panel and got it looking pretty good with a little patience and ball piened hammer.

ummmm not quite sure how he is going to remove a rear pannel on a probe, unless he plans on straight cutting it off the body? I would reccomend against this.

yea, at this point in time, i am leaning towards saving $$$ and having a body shop do it.
by the way, the $500 qoute ford gave me DID NOT include painting.
