View Full Version : oops my tranny is gone....

so today i was on a delivery in the 626 and my clutch started slipping really bad and when i get to the persons house it is just billowing out smoke.. witch i later found out that tranny fluid was leaking on my cluch making it slip and then on my exhaust and smoking like crazy.i tryed to make it back to work but on the way she went pow and died... then there was tranny fluid all over the ground and it was kind of funny because ther was a peace of the cast aluminum sitting on top of the tranny and it had the word oil on it :lol: ill take a pic of it i saved it i just thought it was kind of funny... so i am going to upull to get a new tranny tomorrow i hope i have enough money to still go to moa.:no:

that's the shits dude but its a probe...we all know they have infamously strong tranny's...good luck on the swap! i believe from talking to Mitch Monday that Andrews tranny is still laying on the ground at u pull in rosemount unless it was taken within the last two days

Wrong trans, its for a 89-90 2.2 626. Not the new V6's.

Though i would goto the u pull in rosemont. They have lots of older 626's there, that are 5 speeds. I'm sure the tranny is fine. Only like 100 bucks for a trans. shit, could pull the whole engine and trans for 200. :thup:

I'd find it pretty hard to beleive that tranny fluid was leaking onto the clutch. Your whole case would have had to be cracked in half for the fluid to come anywhere close to the clutch.


Oil dripping onto it? Different story. Id bet more that the rear main went out and leaked oil all over the clutch. That on the other hand is a VERY common problem on the 1g 5speeds....


And how does it get on the exhaust? The tranny isnt even near the exhaust? Maybe the oilpan is leaking? (or the rear main is leaking out the bottom of the tranny, which is moving down the side of the pan then onto the xhaust?



So yeah... Id check the rear main before you go out and buy a new tranny. because these 5speeds almost never go out.

for one my tranny has a hole in it so im pretty sure its the tranny... and the fluid is all over the ground in north branch if you want to go look at it.. im not a dumbass im sure it was my tranny! ill post pics of the hole. so you dont have to doubt me.

no i think it just happened like 2 days be for.. i was delivering and my tranny stated to act weird like when i went over to go into 5th my shifter wold sound and look like it was smacking on something like moving back and forth. it was weird. and the day it went out all of a sudden it wouldn't let me into first for a little wile and then second but then it would let me... i thought it was shift linkage but obviously not..

:lol: What are we talking about again? Just kidding man-that really sucks. I've officially come to the conclusion that I hate fixing cars. I like modding cars, but not fixing them anymore. That's probably why I've even been too lazy to put my bumper covers back on the probe to be able to drive it for winter. This weekend might be the last one that I can procrastinate though. Good luck on the replacement.

shit yeah i got my car moving now!!!:D we had to bleed the clutch with our fingers tho....:lol: but it moves now and im happy..

How did you do it with your fingers? You move the cylinder in and out with your fingers, or move the pedal with your fingers/

well the brakes with our hands yeah but i had to put my finger on the end of the clutch line so it would build up pressure because it wouldn't build up because there was too much air in it or something or maybe the slave cylinder was to big and it couldn't create enough vaccume..... i have no clue but we got it to work and thats all that matters...:lol:
