ctrl+c, ctrl+v

You're supposed to be storing your important stuff on D anyway. If you ever need to restore from the manufacturers CD, it will wipe everything on C.

Drag and drop, or like Kirk said. Find a folder that's taking up a ton of space, like music or porn, and drag it on over to the Data drive. And it sounds like you might be confusing memory with hard drive space.

Are you sure you have two hard drives? When vista installs it tries by default to make two partitions even if you have one drive. If this is the case it is possible to merge the partitions. I forgot exactly how I did it on mine, but i know its possible to do.

clear out non used programs from your list of programs in the control panel.

erase all the demo pictures and music

get a external drive for cd based programs that are really large

keep all the light stuff on the computer and transfer big files to an external drive or D

this is not a Vista program.. this is an ACER adding a Data HD.

thanks guys i will try doing that. but the computer guy did tell me that anything that goes in the data side is a permenant deal and you cant take it off... is this true?

will this affect my puter if i move majority of my stuff from C to D? like for example will it lose it's path?

Well, the operating system is microsoft vista. But if you are adding a new HD, what I said before doesnt matter.

Just open up two windows, one of the C drive, and one of the D drive. You can now drag and drop folders and files from one drive to the other. I would suggest starting with media files (music and movies) which probably take up the majority of your space. When you go back into Itunes (or other program) it will probably have lost the "path" to your music. Its not lost, but you will have to show it where you moved all the music to by adding the new folder to the list.

None of this has anything to do with memory. Memory is only short term, and is used by running programs. (so the more programs open, the more memory is being used)

You need a new computer guy. The D drive is the same as C. The only reason they have it is so that when you do a restore from the CD's you don't lose your important stuff.

C and D are also both the same hard drive. It's just a partition. It's stupid, but that's the way most manufacturers do it.

I don't know, back when I worked for OMAX I never was able to sell a Acer to anybody and when I did they always broke down and then they would try to return them.

The computer brand name is irrelevant. Vista is the Windows operating system which it looks like you are using based on your screen shot.

What he was most likely trying to tell you is that if your computer takes a huge nose dive into the shitter and you need to restore everything to like it was when you first bought it (using the restore CD like Kirk has said) then everything on the Data partition of the hard drive will still be there. However everything you had on the C partition will go bye bye since it will be turned back to day #1 when you pulled it out of the box. The Data drive is permanent in the fact that you can't lose typically. This is why you put the important stuff in it. Not programs, but just things like photos, music, documents, etc. You should still back it all up on to an external now and then though since it's not going to be immune to a virus or hard drive failure.

Yes. But only move the important stuff. Leave program files on the C drive. I would do some cleaning out before moving anything myself.

well i dont mean that i dont have VISTA.... what i mean is i dont think VISTA made it have two hard drives.. its an ACER product that put in two internal HDs... bc i dont think most new computers have this...

Not really. It's one hard drive. Acer (as well as just about every other manufacturer, including Dell and Sony) just puts a partition on the drive to make it appear as two drive letters.
