Does anyone know any good cheap places for painting? I want to get a front bumper, rear bumper and a sideskirt sprayed.

I've heard horror stories on Maaco but I've also seen some pretty good repaints too. Might depend on which one you go to. I'm hoping to get under $400.

The one in Little Canada does great work most of the time. Probably one of the closest to your location too.

the only time a maaco will do good work is if you do yourself or pay for the prep process. Otherwise they literally repaint over the stock paint. I know from experience and from quotes. Maaco is just like any other good place if you are willing to pay for OR do the sanding, priming, etc yourself, which is easy but time consuming and weather-sensative.

Well the front and rear are never been painted pieces but the sideskirt needs some sanding first-I scraped the sideskirt on a retardedly overextended curb at a bank teller drive-thru. So what's a reasonable estimate??? I've never had to have anything painted before. Pieces will be off the car and delivered.

I'd say you're looking at a good $300 or so. There's a guy on MNSC that does painting too at reduced rates...

around $400 is what my dads work would charge but that place is nowhere near you.

Yup, the only good paint jobs I've seen come from Maaco is when the person did the prep work, or paid to have it done. Otherwise is starts flaking in 4-12 months.

I wouldn't pay anything over $450, including prep work for the sanding of the sideskirt.

Dave, not only is it not of use, but it is also not your father or anyone from the shop quoting it. My friends do this shit all the time "Oh, I bet Dani could foil your hair for like $35..." Come to find out it's a full foilf, her hair is halfway down her back, and she wants like 2-3 colors foiled in. That's in the low $100 range.

i'm just going by what it cost in the past. he still has to paint the hood on my probe. start to finish is $80 so i am fine with that.

Well, I guess it's prob going to run me in the 550-600 range for the lower end of a proper paint job. I got quotes as high as 1,100. The avg was probably around 750-800. Damn painting cost more than the pieces  I'll eventually learn to spray myself but I'm not going to practice on my Infiniti...I'll probably respray my probe this year. It would only cost about 250 in paint and materials if I did it myself.

Suckass thing is that I got my pieces today and the rear CF bumper was cracked during Shipment :Pissed: I'm not sure If I can get my car done now before cars and coffee in April (If that's the first one) but it should be done before MOA meet on the 18th.

I'm going to be spraying the EGT this summer. How is it running you $250 for materials though? IIRC last year I priced it out and materials were closer to $150. (Might be because I didnt include primer, since I primed it myself)

The ELX needs a lot of body work, but I'll just do touch ups and leave it looking like a beater... make a better sleeper:)

Yeah, primer, reducer, masking materials, PPG base coat and clear coat.

Yeah, I had it primed, and I get masking materials for free. Booya!

Auto paint is ridiculous on its price.

Yeah, I bet I already have most of the masking and prep materials too if I looked. Yeah, paint is expensive but I'd rather spend a little more for a quality one than just get the cheap stuff. I've seen some horrible DIYs with cheap paint and it just makes you wonder what was the point? Might as well of just slabbed on some bondo to prevent rust.

are you gonna do a 2 or 3 step process?

Not sure yet. I'll do more research before I decide.
