Was wondering if it is possible to put the 2.0 motor from a manual transmission probe into an automatic probe. I have a 95 se with the automatic trans with a blown motor and can purchase a 95 se with a good motor(car is light roll over and complete) both motors are the 2.0 liter is it a drop in or are there mods that will need to be done to use the motor from the wrecked car

It should be a drop in if you have the flex plate or the flywheel from the other motor.;)

thanks thats pretty much what I thought but didnt want to go buy the roll over if it wasnt a drop in (some minor mods are one thing but if it was major I didnt want to bother since the cost of the wrecked car and its transport is the same as a junkyard motor but a parts car is a wonderful thing since the motor is the same) now my baby will soon be on the road again

it can be done and from the sounds of it you have all the required parts... i'd also suggest swapping the trannies as that cd4e (auto) is a pos and will eventually fail... sad to say it but it's true...

Tell me about it the poc trans (OD4E) allready went out on me about 6mths ago $1795 to have it rebuilt but at least it now has a shift kit.
Got the donor car home last night, almost feel guilty pulling its motor out, other then some damage to the roof the car is in pretty good shape

OD4E? don't you mean CD4E?
are you planning on parting out the donor then?

scavange all it parts!! What year is it? If it has gray or black interior, I might want the trim panels from the interior, all of them...

yep c not o , but anyhow not sure what I will do with the donor car just yet as the damage is minimal the roof is dented and so is the passenger door but other then that and the missing windshield the car is in excellent shape (door has minor damage, roof has several dents but is easily repairable)..
So now I will have to decide whether it becomes a project car or just to sell it.
Also to answer your question car is black, has grey interior in very good condition , I will keep you in mind if I decide to part it out

Yipeee:) she lives once again:D
Motor transfer complete, for those interested the only items that needed to be switched to use the motor from the standard was the flywheel, and the tin shim between the motor and the trans (if you do this make sure you change this the one on the standrd does not have the cut out that allows you to tighten the torque convertor bolts)
Now my only problem is figuring out why my oil pressure guage is working in reverse.
If I turn the key on with the motor off it shows high pressure start the motor and it shuts the guage off (gauge looks the same as when key is in off position)
Any ideas

I'll buy the rear hatch from you too... Provided the glass is good and it doesn't have a spoiler...

Well I finally have all the bugs out and my beloved venetian blue SE is alive and well so thanks for the help guys.
as for the black donor car after carefully inspecting the car I have decided to fix the body damage and find a replacement motor, it has now become my winter project(high performance motor, body kit, suspension and this ones a stick hehehehe I can see it now), I really felt bad yanking the motor from it but ya got to do what you got to do sometimes
 sounds like you got it made with two probes now!!!

Actually we now have three, my venetian blue 95 SE, the Black 95 se project car and a black 89 GL, I guess we're a probe type of family

update...before installing a motor from a mtx into an atx probe be sure to grind off the extra bolthole on the motor casing to allow clearance for proper motor seating.
I have just found out the hard way there is an extra bolt hole on the mtx engines that causes interference and does not allow proper motor seating, the bolt hole is located on the back side of the motor and will not fully clear the passnger side cv where it conects to the trans, the missalignment caused is a little over an 1/8 of an inch and not noticed right off, this will cause your flywheel to fail (I am currently replacing the flywheel due to this)
