i was wondering if anyone could tell me what adapter i would need to put in an aftermarket steering wheel, or maybe where to get it? all the auto part store catalogs say the adapters only go up to '92, but i know ive seen them in '93+

the shop that sells you the wheel should have access to adapters for various applications. and on the legality of aftermarket steering wheels: how many cops will come up to your car and say, hey is that a new nardi steering wheel? most cops dont even know that my car, despite what the badge says, is not a mazda. youll be fine

I thought it was only illegal if you sold the car without telling the buyer it didn't have an airbag.

I always wondered how they could give out tickets to people for getting into accidents. Not reckless or innattentive driving tickets but actual tickets for the accident itself. I thought it was accidental...

just tell them someone stole your airbag, and you couldn't afford to replace it since they are friggin expensive. so thats why you decided to just get a new steering wheel. there was an article in car and driver about air bag theft and how people don't replace them once they go off since they can be about a thousand dollars. and everyone knows that air bags kill more people than they save.

Oh hey, there's a good idea. I'm gonna go around and steal someone's airbag... Likely story.

air bags have killed less than 200 people. They have saved over 4000 people. Everyone knows they save more people than they kill.

It isn't illegal to remove your airbag. It is only illegal if you sell your car without it and do not inform the buyer.

holy hell this post has gotten out of control. the bottom line is nobody cares if its illegal or not. speeding is illegal, street racing is illegal, unecessary accel is illegal, underage drinking is illegal...but it happens. keep the cop talk at the precinct:)

in an effort to try and answer the original question, i found this

thank you... i did end up hearing about that momo hub adapter... and for future reference i also heard that you can use the mazdaspeed srs hub, i guess this one eliminates the airbag light going on and hooks right up to everything perfectly. im not positive on this one but i heard that the miata adapter also works, but ya gotta add a 3 ohm resistor to the airbag wiring to fool the sensor that the airbag is still there. anyone else heard that?
