low oil pressure

:help: i got 93 gt and its got low oil pressure when you first start it up its on the a and l on normal and after you drive it for 10 or more minutes it drops down to about the black line and i'm not low on oil any ideas?

when do you check your oil, and idleing engine will give you a different read then a cold one.

yeah, if your engine is idling, you wont get a very accurate read on the dipstick since there should be a couple quarts circulating through the engine.

but when did you last change your oil, and was it a different oil than you normally use?

after oil breaks down, it will lose its ability to accumulate gunk, leaving it to circulate throughout the engine. it will also become less viscous, in turn lowering oil pressure.

different oils react differently under certain conditions. ive tried a variety of oils and have experienced a variety of o.p. levels, but i must say that synthetic has held up the longest so far.
