Does anyone know of a performace distributor for 2nd gen PGT? I need to replace mine and figure if there's an upgrade I'd like to consider it.

I've never heard of a performance upgrade unless you wanted to do a complete aftermarket ignition system and that is very expensive and I don't think its worth it. You probably will not feel a difference and it is also probly gunna be more trouble than its worth. I've seen a few on probes with turbos or superchargers but I don't think there is a cost effective upgrade
As long as I'm sayin somethin, If you are interested I have an almost brand new distributer from mazda. I know both neil "junickjr8" and tony "blu93pgt" can contest this distributer is in very nice shape. Tony sold me his car for parts this past december with some very nice parts on it. The actual part has a sticker from mazda saying that it was done in june of 02, which means that at the most it was used for 6 months which is probably not the case seeing as his car was in the shop a lot and it probably did not go on the car the exact date that is on it but I would like 100 bucks for it, I think that is a very good price seeing as most cost 200+ at a cheap parts store, and a dealer? I don't even want to know but yeah if that isn't of interest to you thats fine cause I'm sure I can find someone on ebay that would willingly pay at least that. Hope this helps

there is a way you can tie an msd igniton into the system. try a search or hope that one of the guys that knows about this happens upon this thread. kirk knows, or at least knew, the procedure for doing this.
cost vs benefit for this is very low however. i'd suggest investing your funds elsewhere...

I know you CAN'T do it on 1996-1997 probes. You might be able to, but I've also heard you can't.
I have a modified distributor cap for 1993-1995 probe gt that will accept the MSD ignition. I bought it hoping it might work on my car (guy didn't say what year it was for) but it's totally different. So this would be great for someone with those years. It's well done, not the crappy job you would probably do yourself.
