Are the front strut bars more for making the engine look good, I havent heard of any plus's from it. Do they rub on your intake? I'll probably put some money into getting a rear one from prd, i'm just skeptical of the front ones.

they do help a lot by reducing body flex. every car is different, so some rub on the intake and some rub on the hood, and some......well....some actually fit right.....

Thats not too promising :D
What brands do people usually get the "right fit" from?

well.....every car is different.....so some fit some cars right and some don't fit right. A lot of companies make them for our car, so you have quite a selection.

i noticed a signifigant diffrence with my front and rear bars...my front bar is the same as retts i got it from www.streetbeatcustoms.com for i think $30 fits fine...doesnt touch the intake manifold, but barley touches the hood braces..nothing bad...and the rear brace..well i love it...best $60 ive spent on my car so far...thanks mike!

how much clearance is there over the intake manifold?

I have the Freedom bar, I've got about 1/4" between it and the intake. It touches the cardboard stuff stuck to the underside of the hood, but not very much. I ground off a little so it wouldn't hit, but in retrospect didn't need to worry about it.

i'll probably but a front and rear strut bar this summer. I need to get rid if all those squeeks. I'll probably get a freedom design's front bar and prd rear. Is prd still backed up on the rear bars??

It's not really for the squeeks. It's for the handling. And considering we have a hatchback with no real support between the rear struts, a rstb is a very good idea for handling.
