I have been working with a guy named Rex at Downtown Jaguar on buying an XKR (which fell through). He is a really easy going, no pressure, kind of sales person which is why I offered to help him out.

He has what I think is a 95 Probe GT sitting on the lot. Its black and thats all I can tell about it right now. He told me its under $5,000 and in great shape.

If anyone is interested let me know or call Downtown Jaguar and ask for Rex. I only live 3 blocks away from the dealer so if anyone is truely interested I can go up there and take some pictures.

I've got a friend looking for a probe... is it an Auto??

(I've tried to talk him into a manual but he's too stupid to drive one I guess...)

I will check on my way home from work. I only saw the back of it but when I take the kid for a walk I will bring my camera and snap some photos of it.

I get as much information as I can about it and post it up later.

So why did you skip on the XKR? It seems like a nice car...pretty spendy though.

They were going to give me $13,500 trade on my SS and I had around $10,000 to put down. The car was used and going for $75,000. With $23,500 down I would have been looking at the same financing as a new ZO6 would have been which was ok with me since the payments would have been around $1,500 a month with about the same insurance as a Vette.

Once I had everything rolling I decided to tell my girlfriend and she didnt seem to mind so I went to get financing. The financing people wanted more and more money (basically they wanted close to 50% down) which I wasnt about to try since I am also looking for a house and a house is more important than a car.

So to end it all, I stopped looking at the Jag and started looking at a 95 Lotus S4S they had that was just around $30K. I tried (thats right TRIED) to drive it but my feet were to big so I just gave up and went home to wash the SS.

While washing the SS it dawned on me, my girlfriend needed a car and I didnt, I just wanted one. So I went out and got her a 97 RS Camaro (that was her choice, not mine). I also decided that she is perfect for me so I got her a nice diamond ring and sealed the deal.

I went looking for a new car and ended up with a cheaper newer car and a fiance. Its not an XKR but I am happy with my decision. :)

oooo...I would rather have the ZO6. Especially when you compare the price.

But that is an interesting story. :)

I've been to downtown jaguar a few times. I drove an XK8 the last time I was there. We also got a tour of all their cars. They had 2 lotus esprit's that I was checking out. They pretty nice and not too much money.

Sorry everyone, I went to the dealer this morning to talk to Rex and take some pictures of the Probe and it was sold last night.

Although, while I was there I got in the Lotus again and was wishing my feet werent size 13 so I could drive it easier. Unfortuantely my feet are still the same size and the car is still for sale and sitting right out front on Washington avenue as I write this.

That thing is on hold weekly from dreamers putting a couple of hundred dollars down and then taking a week to find out they cant get financing or insurance would kill them.

If you really want to know about the Lotus here is what I can tell you.

1995 Lotus Esprit S4S
Red
Single turbo four cylinder engine
5 speed manual
tinted windows
bright paint with little spiderwebbing (I guess to the Lotus guys this means its good)
Good tires
around 26,000 miles
Tan leather interior showing a little wear
Removable top
power seats and windows and mirrors
I think the radio is either Alpine or JVC I wasnt to concerned since I didnt like it and it was hooked up wrong anyways.

My brother in-law is a mechanic and checked out the car for me. He says he would work on it because he liked the cars but just bringing it to a mechanic would prove to be spendy. The easiest way to work on anything on the front of the engine is to raise the car on a hoist and drop the engine out from the bottom. The plus side is that a lot of the bolt-on parts can be swapped for GM parts. Tail lights and stuff can be found on older Toyotas so finding parts for it (less the exhaust) shouldnt be to bad.

hmmmm...not the V8, but still plenty of power. :) And....it's got the looks.
