Im trying to decide between these tires, help me out!

Bridgestone Potenza - Z Rated

Yokahama Avid - V Rated

Dunlop SP Sport 5000 - V Rated


I dont know which to buy. My dad said he would pay for my tires :D and I have these three to choose from. Which one is good for cornering, does well in rain or snow, and has a good tread life. The Yokahamas have a 45,000 mile warranty. What would you guys get?

i'm going for the z-rated kuhmos... i've heard a lot of good about them.

They are the different speed ratings. If you have the stock GT wheels (which i think you do) then you need tire size:

225/50R16 (The "R" Just Means Radial)

Before the "R" there will be another letter, thats the speed rating. Here's the chart"

P - 93 MPH
Q - 99 MPH
S - 112 MPH
T - 118 MPH
U - 124 MPH
H - 130 MPH
V - 149 MPH
W - 168 MPH
Y - 186 MPH
Z - 149+ MPH

So you'll see something like 225/50VR16 (Which is "V" Rating")

Our cars should have any of the V-Z ratings. There are exceptions though like rebby's car. Thats only a 4-banger so he only needs the "P" rating. :D

the 4 bangers got H rated tires stock so they get a limiter at like 110.

what do the gt's have stock???

and are z rated better than y rated???

stock is Z or V

225-50-16


My snow tires are 195-65-15 they are like P or Q rated.....but I've gone 110 with them.

I have Bridgestone Potenza's RE730 and they are by far the best tires i have ever rode on. Awesome rain traction, dry traction, noise, z rated and 300 tread life. Traction AA

i think im gonna go for the yokahamas but im gonna go see what they look like tomorrow, wouldn't want to get an ugly tire...

i wouldn't mind a set of them but... alas, my parents would never chip in... :p
