So ever since I got my car, the voltmeter has run around the L when it warmed up and I had the lights on or if I was sitting in traffic, but I ignored it because I never had any problems with it starting or running. Tonight I went out to it to get something and I couldn't shut off the alarm because the battery was so dead. It just kept going off. By the way Kirk, public safety didn't even stop when my alarm was going off for 20 minutes and I was messing around under the hood. Anyway, I got it jumped and drove it for a while, parked it and it wouldn't start back up again.

Place your bet:
It might be because:
1. The battery is bad but it doesn't look old
2. My alternator is inadaquate
3. Started it in a week and it's been really cold
4. My front rims are on backward

I'll put it on a charger tomorrow and let you know. My money is on the rims.

Normally I would just tell you to clean your battery posts...charging isn't going to do a bit of good unless you do, and Probes are notorious for exhibiting slow/no start conditions in cold weather with nothing more than semi-dirty terminals...

But, that was before I considered the rims...."I'll take: 'My rims are on backwards' for $200, Alex."

"i'll take my rins are on backwards for 500, alex" ;), but seriously, make sure you're battery is good to roll.

well.. at 32 degrees F... the battery power is decreased by 33%
0 degrees its 50%

its time for a new battery... and alternator...

Just a new battery for ya, the alternator should be fine if it runs after you jump it.

I put it on the charger for 4 hours and it's holding a charge and running better than it did before. It must have just been the cold weather that killed it.
