If I bought new struts (F&R) what all do I need? Couldn't I use the stock springs with the new ones? I want to drive my car in the winter so i dont want GC or any lowering spring. unless someone makes a better spring that doesn't lower the car.

So what do I need to replace my front and rear struts?

What would you guys think if I raised my car and put some 44's on? :D

stuts... tokiko illuminas :D

i have a set on order right now...

if you get g/c's you can set so that they don't lower your car all that much... then you could have it low in the summer and high in the winter... :)

That's the whole point of GCs......you can change the height.

The only parts you have to have are the struts themselves. I highly recommend buying two thrust bearings for the front though.

Installation is simple, in fact it's easy. Problem is that it's just a pain in the ass because there's always bolts that don't want to come off, etc. - it's always something that doesn't go right.

A lot of the springs don't really lower your car very far, Eibach for example. I wouldn't think it would be a problem with ground clearance, even in winter.

If you're not getting springs, you can stick with the cheaper struts too. Illuminas are nice, but they're a lot more useful with stiffer springs.

Eibach makes their own springs to replace the stock ones. They also make the specialized springs that GC uses in their kit. Totally different items however.

With struts, get two thrust bearings for the front to replace while it's all torn apart. That's it. You could replace the strut mounts all around, but don't need to. Might tighten the handling - MIGHT...

Even Eibachs and what not don't lower the car far enough to make you really worry about snow.

Blues are supposed to be more durable than KYB, so they'd be better.

But - I'm telling you, you need Illuminas so that you can have the stiffer settings, not just because they'll last better. With GC's and softer (stock like) struts, you will be bouncing akll over the place and hate the ride. GC's should come packaged with Illuminas in my opinion so that people would be more likely to get the correct setup.

Again, stiff GC springs with stock struts will feel very similar to stock springs with totally worn out struts, except it'll be a little worse because the springs are stiffer to begin with.
