My brakes are squeeling like hell now and its the worst thing to hear when its coming from your car. if I got new brake pads would this get rid of the squeel or is there something else I can do. I should change to pads anyway. How hard is it to change the rotors if I went that far if I got slotted ones? I would want f+r ones wouldn't i?

if you are changing your pads you could change your rotor very easily @ the same time...

I got the same problem, mine are really loud when i'm putting certain amount of pressure on my brakes. The pads are just fine, and the last time i replaced the pads, i resurfaced the rotors too, is there anything i can do to stop the squeaking????

Ye, but they're still annoying as hell, plus it makes me look bad. It makes you think that the car is a piece of crap when it pulles up squeaking, right?

Mine squeek once per revolution. I think that sounds worse. 100% metropolitan fords fault.

I dont anymore. I have brought it there for one thing, to replace the timing belt (and yes, they screwed up). I havent been back since. My car is at a private owned shop right now for the a/c. i might pay a little more, but it will work and they wont pop my tire or something stupid in the process.

I took it there in december. I will never even drive past there again. Unless I'm going to drive in there, flick everyone off, then leave some rubber for them.

well....since you'll be going through EP, I'm sure me and eric could figure out a way to avoid it. We could design a detour for all probe owners going in that direction. I don't have to go past it because I get onto 5 after it. but I do come dangerously close to it everyday. I'm like a half a mile away.

Why are they only 6 months old? I know you got new rotors, but why are the old ones only 6 months old?

because when I bought a set of metal pads I replaced the rotors too!!
mine were also warpped and that sucked.

If it's always squealing it's probably the wear indicators - little metal tabs that stick out from the pad, and when you get worn down to a certain point they hit the rotor and squeal like crazy - to let you know to change them.
Brakes are like struts - the job is really easy and straightforward, just a handful of big bolts to undo, nothing complicated. It's just that the bolts are always rusted and frozen in and suck to get out sometimes.
At this point new rotors would be recommended, your old ones probably have some good deep grooves in them by now. Brake Equipment Warehouse just north of downtown Mpls has pretty cheap prices, about $25 - 30 each. I'd do that and spend the money on good pads, you'll notice more from that than from slots cut into the rotors and cheap pads. Of course you could do both too.

How much do you think it would be to resurface my rotors? (what ford fucked up on that made them squeek)

Like $8 each at Napa. I resurfaced mine last fall, but i'm not positive on that price, i can't remember.

Is that going to fix my uneven rotor? And does that include labor? Or do they do it while it's on the car?

i am thinking about picking up some of BREMBO regualr rotors for $35.00 each from summit...or you can go on PT and go under the BB section...i think cross drilled front rotors are $105 for both rears anrt on there yet...
