After I picked up my car from the shop today I had to come to a pretty damn hard stop and the brake light came on during the stop and turned off when the car stopped. not the abs light, the e-brake light. any ideas wtf this could be?

hmm, call the shop... that can't be right...

I thought that that was normal! Every time I push the brakes a bit harder than usual, the e-brake light comes on, than turns off when i release the brakes. And in the winter, every time the ABS turned on, the e-brake light comes on.... I read somewhere that that light comes on as a notice that the car is losing traction, but i don't know. HELP!!! Is it serious????

I did, the level is 3/4 way between low and full, could it be something else? can it be "bad" brake fluid.

I'd say check the tail lights. Most cars do this when a bulb is burnt out back there. Pretty simple fix.

You dumbasses, I'm serious. My old Tracer was like this. Have you seen how people can hook up LED's to their stereo amps, where there's a green light if it's getting power and a red one if it isn't? This is similar electronically.

I bet it only comes on when you hiot the brakes. I bet it comes on no matter if you press it hard or lightly. Get somebody to watch your tail lights (including the third light at the top. Now go hit the brake pedal. I'm telling you, one of the lights is burnt out.

If that's the problem, you all must bow down before me next meet. If not, it's still a good idea - my Tracer leaked water into the tail lamp fixture. Everytime it killed a bulb, I knew because that light in the dash lit up when I hit the brakes. It quit after I replaced the bulb again.

Go check this out, it's easy, and yes, I'm serious. (But not "Yahoo Serious):D

I'm so sorry, it WAS the brake fluid.
Although it was at an ok level, i filled it all the way to the full line and the light doesn't turn on anymore:lol:

Sorry to bother all of you, it was just my stupidity going overtime.

dont you have to bleed the system if you take the top of the master cylinder thing for the brakes off? this is why i asked how you check the brake fluid.
