i am all ready for my czt im and 67 mm tb. i just installed my ludespeed turbo pipes with the hotshot headers, 60/63 turbo. if the numbers on the new im are correct i will be making around 325 whp on only 7psi!!!! the ludespeed pipes with hotshot make 275 alone!!! the car is out of commission until i get the im, but as soon as i get it i will be dynoing it at mankato. i will post dates, or if anyone going there knows aaron Mclain from esko he can tell you.

the motor will handle up to 14 psi before it blows, rayman on probetalk did it himself, i am only going to run 7 psi until next summer when i put in my forged czt pistion kit, than i am going to crank it up to 15 psi. i also got a whole custom built case hardened steel stransmission with roller bearings instead of ball bearings that will handle around 500 whp. i got it specai shipped from cali. :p

I was wondering more about the fuel side of things. The stock injectors aren't the greatest.

Sounds like you've got your work cut out for you. Not trying to argue here or anything, but I can't see how you're gonna support 325whp with stand alone. By the way...I've never heard of anyone even close to 300 on only 7 psi. That's 150-160whp over stock. Regardless of pipes and IM/TB it would likely take 12-15psi to get over the 300 mark.

check out the 93gtsr's dyno with the old ludespeed and the new ludespeed pipes. the new ones made 275 on only 7psi

probespeed and a few others on ptalk is running 10 psi on stock injectors also
zenmasterzex
05/01/2004, 11:40 AM
next summer i plan on running sds, 550cc injectors, apexi avcr, and distributorless ign. as of now i only have a cartech and a walbro 255hp
probespeed
05/01/2004, 12:33 PM
Not to burst your bubble but I'm only running 4psi and having fuel issues  those that are running 10psi on stock injectors are doing so because they have inefficient setups. Running 4psi of cool air and 10psi of hot air could easily use the same amount of fuel. 93gtr's setup is not on stock fuel, he is running the same setup i have awaiting install. The plans you have for next summer sound great but if you think you're going to run 325whp this summer you should probably add in a new motor for next summer.
That's just my 2 cents but what do I know.

I'm pretty sure that there would be a noticeable increase when there's a 140Hp difference. Even the "butt dyno" can pick up on something as small as 5hp. Perhaps there is a tuning, clutch or traction issue?

It sounds (pun intended) like you more than likely have a large exhaust leak. Any leak will lead to less turbo spoolage ... a large leak will lead to little to no spool.
Do you have a dumped wastegate? If you aren't building boost, then your wastegate shouldn't be open and your exhaust shouldn't be any louder than it was before the install.
To do list:
-Nut and bolt the entire hot side
-Check all charge piping & couplers
If you don't have any leaks on the hot or cold side then the problem is isolated to your turbo.

wastegate was not stuck, still no power. the reason i was blowing into the atmosphere is because i was reaching 7 psi and it was opening the wastegate to release the pressure.

OK Here is the set up he has going. If you are familiar with the Ludespeed set up this is going to be old news and skip to the next paragraph. The Ludespeed system constists of Hotshot primaries which look to collect into a 2.25" pipe and run into a 2.5" pipe (this is just by looks). This runs up to the turbo which is mounted where the old battery was (now in the trunk). He has a Tial 38mm external Wastegate which is supposed to be set at 7psi. It is an open atmosphere wastegate, and the car is NEVER loud enough for it to be going off. The pipe then runs down and connects to a test pipe (which is connected to the good old stock exhaust).
The situation on the cool side off the turbo: The turbo (Garrett 63 with a 60-1 shaft) is set up to blow downwards and slightly towards the radiator support. This pipe runs down to the bottom of the radiator support and then veers right (if you were to be looking right at the car). The intake piping then runs around the side of the radiator support. This is where the BOV is located (HKS super Sequential). The BOV is nounted on its side. There is no leaks here and the HKS seams to opperate fine, its obviously not running loud because there is little boost. Then the pipe runs left across the radiator support into a 28" (I think) Spearco intercooler (no leaks, no restrictions I've already tested it). After the intercooler the pipe runs right then goes into a hole cut in the radiator support. The pipe then makes a right and goes a little under and behind the radiator. When the pipe gets to the two fans it turns and goes straight up in between the Hotshot's and the radiator. Then it takes a turn right when it reaches the height of the valve cover and goes until it can make a 90 degree angle with the VAF.
Other Parts installed: Fidanza Flywheel, Spec Stage III clutch, Stainless Steel Clutch Line, CarTech FMU.
Things I see as Possible Problems:
THE FLANGE ON THE EXHUAST SIDE OF THE DOESN'T LINE UP PERFECTLY WITH THE FLANGE ON THE PIPE (NO LEAKS, BUT POSSIBLE RESTRICTION)
THE EXHAUST PIPE OFF THE TURBO RUNS A FRACTION OF AN INCH FROM THE DISTRIBUTOR (POSSIBLE ELECTRONICAL OVERHEATING)
THE BOV, WASTEAGE, BOOST GAUGE, AND FMU ALL RUN FROM ONE FITTING, ROUGHLY THE SIZE OF THE VACUUM TUBE THAT RUNS TO OUR STOCK AIR BOX
THE VAF ITSELF IS FAULTY OR IS OVERTIGHTENED AND BECOMING A RESTRICTION
I base these opinions from helping install the kit and driving it. The car gets pretty severe missfire. 1-2 cylinders and is a rareity when it doens't mis-fire at all (idle sometimes).
This is all I can think of right now, if you need more info you can check the link below.
HERE (http://forums.probetalk.com/showthread.php?t=1701099350&page=1&pp=25) is the link to Probetalk where a forum has also been opened.
LET'S GET THIS TURBO BOOSTING!!!!!
probespeed
05/13/2004, 12:36 PM
I'd take a closer look at the vaf. You said that you might have overtightened it and that is crucial to idle and if it isn't opening at wot it will restrict severly.
An exhaust problem shouldn't give you idle problems and spark plug gap shouldn't either. This makes me think it's the vaf also.
GET SOME HEAT WRAP ON THAT DOWNPIPE!!!!!! running that close to the disty will give you problems later but not the kind you are having now.
You should also split off those vacume lines to more sources. But you already knew that ;)

What do you have for air/fuel ratio monitoring?
That "miss" could be detonation. Your car might feel fast as hell, but only because it is running on the ragged edge of holing a piston. The leaner you run the more power you make for a given amount of boost. Remember, detonation can cause forces exponentially higher than any amount of boost you'll ever be able to run.
This may sound retarted, but how old are your plug wires? When was the last time you changed the disty cap and rotor? Changing/gapping your plugs can only do so much if you are sending them good juice.
Let us know ... pictures are always good too.

What kind of air/fuel ratio are you running? I just want to rule out the possibility that your "miss" isn't detonation. If it isn't detonation, then it is an ignition problem.

I would replace your cap, rotor, and plug wires if they haven't been replaced since you've owned the car. Unless you have service records from the previous owner, you have no idea how old these parts are. Look at it this way ... You (or your parents) have just got done spending $2500+ boosting your car. What is $100-150 for a new cap, rotor, and wires?
