I heard somewhere that they fixed alot of the problems in the newer distributors( 95+) does anyone know if that is true? because I need a new distributor and I was thinking that mabey I could buy a newer year distributor. I have a 93 pgt. And will it bolt in plus work correctly in my car?

There is an HEI mod you can do which the part cost around 10 bucks. If you want i can find the link and post it. All your basically doing is replacing (by soldering in) the ignitor mechanism with an HEI unit used in older gm's i believe? but it works great for everyone so far and a lot of people have been doing it now.

yeah I accually already tried to do this. For some reason I could not get it to work. I didnt hook up the external coil just the hei modual. so im thinking that I will either try a coil with my set up or I will eventually just get a new distributor... its just depressing that I took all that time to get the hei mod put together and installed and my car still dont spark. I need to check all my conections but its been to cold and my car is sitting outside.

Ouch! First, are you sure it's just your ignitor? There are many things that will cause you to lose spark, like a bad coil for instance.
Not saying anything, just don't wanna see you throw away money for a new disty if you don't need one.
I remember reading somewhere that you couldn't swap a 95 disty into a 93, but I'm not positive on that, but yes they eliminated a lot of the earlier models' problems.

i was under the impression you could get a 95 and up disty to fit on the 93 and 94 models. Ive heard to just buy a remanufactured 95+ disty to solve your problems

I was under the impression that you couldnt use 95 up disties on 93 and 94's. in 95 a few different things changed. more emission bs(more 02 sensors and a pre cat), new disties, and a few other things i believe. I was pretty sure they wouldnt work though but i could be wrong.

my 97 disty is very different from the other years.

The 95+ ones are missing a crank position sensor in the disty that the 93-94 ECUs need to make the motor run, hence Splats ZE troubles with the 95 disty in a 94 ECU.

I knew it was something...just couldn't remember. It's been 2 years since I destroyed Oert's.
Aaron...you seriously just answered all of the questions I've been asking Splat, thanks!
Splat...we need to either get you a different disty or a different ECU. I've got a spare ECU but it won't help cause it's for a 93... ;)
