from your book. Can you tell me which wires are the 12v, ground, and turn on for the sub amp? (if they exist) I also need to know which wires go to the sub. (I think it's 3, but I need to know which 2 are for the sound)

OK, you were right, there are 3 wires going to the amp, they are GN/BK, GN, and GN/R. Green and black, a green one, and a green and red one.
All three go into the amp, and the sub is mono wired on a loop though the amp.
I assume the green wire is power. With the GN/BK being positive and the GN/R wire being negative signal...

What the hell are you doing anyway?

If you want to stop by and look at this diagram, you're welcome to... I'm no electrical engineer this thing looks like a pencil drawing of a bowl of spagetti to me...

yeah the book is pretty crazy, but very useful if you stare at for hours like I did. When curt let me borrow it I had it figured out. I should have scanned in the pagers. Do you have a scanner or a digital camera? There are three wires going OUT of the sub amp, And two of them must be +/- audio but what is the other? ground? It wouldn't be power...I don't think. I'm pretty sure there is a description for each wire somewhere in there. I also need to know what wires go INTO the sub amp. One is a 12v power wire...I should be able to use this for the turn on and power. But let me know if there is a separate turn on wire.
That's kind of a lot....maybe I will just come look at it some time. What I'm doing is installing my own sub amp for the stock sub. When you install an aftermarket head unit (which almost always sends out an amplified signal) those wires go to the stock amplifier. So amplified twice sucks, so you buy this bypass harness that bypasses the stock amp. Which sucks because that amp also splits the signal to go to the sub amp. So....bypass stock amp and the sub doesn't work. So I'm going to run wires from my head units sub out to a shitty amplifier and run my stock sub.

Why wouldn't it be power?
+/- signal, and power... ground straight to the metal somewhere nearby?
+ signal, and power and ground perhaps? Old fashioned "floating ground" speakers?
Own a multimeter? See what is connected to what. Set it to beep on a closed connection, and see which one is ground. Then set for DC voltage and turn the key and the stereo on, and see which one shows +12V. You know how all that goes I think...
You could scan and post the manual too, can't be that hard to figure out the notations?

1st of all, why bother doing this at all. Run a seperate power cable and Att wire from the head unit and set up your amp like everyone else does. 2nd, why use the stock sub? Get a good one.
3rd, yes, you should come and look at the diagram.

because I'm cheap and I don't want anything better than a stock sub. When it was working I was happy with the bass. I don't want a big box like everyone else.
I do agree with you on number 3 though. :D

According to Barry it splits at the headunit:

Once I get to MN I can help you with any car audio related problem you guys need. That's what I do :smokin:
Does this amp have a Low Pass filter on it? If not you'll need one if you're not using the original sub signal...a giant coil will do I suppose.

it splits at the amp. that thread is talking about the 1st gens anyway. the output i am using is designed for a sub...it has a LPF in the headunit. I can actually change the cutoff from the head unit too. :)
