hey guys, what was the name of the place that was suggested as a good place to get a custom catback job at?? I think Dave and Jeremy both knew of some place.
Another question: I have that AC Revolution muffler coming, and I mostly got it because I like the way it looks. It also has one of those detachable silencers but I have know idea as to how well they work. Anyway I am stapped for cash after buying rims and tires so I really can't afford to spend too much on a custom catback. I am thinking of just having the muffler welded to the stock piping. How hard would it be to take it off a few months down the road and weld it onto custom piping??

i don't think that would be too hard... if you have somebody do it, i would be sure to mention your intensions right away though... that way they will know what's coming up...

You know all the great places, don't you? :) I was just thinking of replacing my cat with a straight pipe (also eliminating my 6 inch extension which is like 2" piping) Do you know if these places will make me 2.5" piping with flanges about 2 feet long for a decent price? Anybody want to convince me to not remove the cat? Would it be too loud?

leave the cat on you need it for torque however it does not add or reduce any hp when on or off
and to answer your q's yes they can fab all exhaust stuff

how much does it cost to get pipe bent? if i were you i would buy the pace setter its about 150 2.5 inch (same as greddy) and it has mandrel bends rathe than ristrictive presure bends. the muffler part is not that good though. i gutted my cat and i noticed no lose in tourqe. may be cause i put the after cat in at the same time. i really like the sound with no cat and a intake.

i'm not opposed to aftermarket exhaust, however most cost waaaaay too much.
but to answer rett's question yes I wuold leave on the resonator or at least get a larger flowing one just due to the sound it adds
take mine for example
I have full 2.5" piping from the cat back aftermarket res and a resonated tip and thats it

well guys, I think I am just going to have somebody weld the muffler to my stock exhaust piping, and when I have some extra money I can switch it out for pacesetter piping or something.
anyway, how much do u think it will cost just to have the muffler welded on?? I am going to call a few places, maybe even stop by that shop everyone is talking about, but someone just give me a general cost...if it is more than $50 I might just wait and buy the pacesetter so I can do it all at once.

I just called Xtreme and the guy told me I was looking at about $500 to have custom mandrel bent piping put on along with the muffler that I already have
I say fuck that. I also talked to The Wonderful Muffler Man (a place a buddy of mine recommended) and they quoted me about $250 for custom cat back piping that is just regular bending!!!
Am I going crazy or are these prices a little high?? If I can't find any place that will do piping cheaper I am just going to order the pacesetter exhaust and get rid of the muffler that comes with it.
Oh yeah, and Xtreme quoted me $85 to just have the muffler welded on. Any places you guys can suggest to get just the muffler welded on?? How about Meineke or Midas or CarX??

I just called a few places about just welding on the muffler and Meineke and AutoMax seem like the cheapest, although each place said that they'd have to look at it to get an estimate. Do you guys have any experiences with either place??

well i dont know who at extreme you talked to, but I have a hand written quote for less than 250.00 for that same exhaust on my buddies 89 turbo T/A.
as for just welding the new muffler on go to a place called "austins muffler shop" in blaine on moundsview (mounds view is off co rd 10) and they'll weld i up for 35.00 or less tell them I sent you (mention my car if they dont remember my name)

I ended up just going to a Meineke in Midway because I was already in the area. They had to put an extension in and with all the work it ended up costing $75
whatever, I got ripped, but it looks and sounds sweet. The removeable silencer really makes a difference, its kinda nice to be able to have it loud or soft.
I might post some pictures if the weather clears up, otherwise you guys will just have to wait to see it next weekend. ;)

I actually got it off of ebay for what came out to be $147 or something close to that with shipping. If you go to www.arloautoaccs.com you can see it and they sell there for $150 plus shipping.
