Hay folks,

I have come to a recent, tough decision to sell my baby. It's a black 1997 GT with 69000 miles and every option except ABS, automatic transaxle, and side door mouldings. The interior is black leather. The car was bought by me almost exactly 4 years ago w/ 17 miles on the odometer and has never stopped bringing me joy since. During the summer, she has gotten a new coat of wax on a weekly basis (this is no joke) and 2 to three times in a heated garage during the winters. People see the car and often ask me if it has been repainted and I tell them that it's all factory original. I have all the service records showing regular maintenance performed on it. The engine has had Amsoil (arguably the best synthetic oil in the industry) 5W-30 flowing through it in summer and 0W-30 in winter since the first oil change @ 1500 miles so as you might expect it burns not a drop of oil. The cleanliness of the interior matches that of a car on the show floor. I can count on 1 hand how many times someone has ridden in the back seat. The leather in the front seats has gotten a regular diet of Lexol cleaner and mink oil. The car has the chrome factory swirlies that I have removed the outside wheel weights from and had them moved to the inside. The inside surface of each wheel has been polished to a shiny luster and washed every time the car has, so they're in spectacular shape. The brake calipers are painted w/ bright red hi-temp Folia Tec laquer to really set them off beneath the chrome spokes. The car has never been in an accident or much less seen ANY abuse, so the body is perfect as well. In addition to all that is mentioned above, the car also has the following toys:

-Eibach Pro-kit lowering springs
-Tokico 5-way adjustable struts
-KVR carbon fiber pads
-KVR stainless steel brake lines
-Brembo nickel plated f/r rotors (cross-drilled in front)
-Addco 22mm rear sway bar
-Probesport rear strut tower bar (beatiful factory-looking installation in hatch)
-Australian-spec clear corner lenses(RARE and beautiful)
-Custom red Ford logos f/r (again, very rare and beautiful)
-Freedom Design front strut tower brace
-Magnacore KV85 silicon spark plug wires
-NGK ZFR6-11 plugs (new)
-K&N drop in filter
-Probesport short throw shifter
-Drilled aluminum pedal covers
-Pioneer DEHP920-R CD head unit

...in addition to all this, the new, very lucky owner of my baby will also get a set of 4 Blizzak WS-50 snow tires on 4 14" Enkei alloy rims, a set of pheno spacers, an extra intake manifold, a second set of brand new factory floor mats, and last but not least, a Ford factory service manual, a Chilton's manual, and a Haynes manual for proper care and feeding of your new baby. This car has been very special to me over the last 4 years, and now it can be special to you too. The asking price is $11,000. Email me at cjswaja@yahoo.com if you're interested and we'll talk. Thanks for your time.

Why are you selling it? I don't think I ever met you! I might buy it just for the floor mats......jk......

I'm selling it because I have been given the opportunity to purchase another rare car that I have had my eyes on for a long while now.

and what car might that be?

Captain Chris

It's a black (you gotta love black) 2000 Crown Vic Police Interceptor with a supercharged 32v Mustang Cobra motor dropped in instead of the stock 16v 4.6. He is leaving the company to work elsewhere and this was his company vehicle, so now it is for sale and I'm all over it.

Yes, that's true. When most people see a Grand Marquis or a Crown Vic drive by, 9 times out of 10 it's being driven by a retired male or female. However, when it's all black with all the chrome blacked out, lowered 1", has 255/50s on 5 spoke Cobra rims and is packing the motor I previously mentioned, well, this ain't grandpa joe's easy-drivin' ride anymore.;) Basically it's the Ford version of the '94-'96 Impala SS.

id take an impala ss (1994-1996) in place of my probe any day. I love big fast cars. Our cars definately arent big, but they have the fast part down which is most important.

Yes, all Panther platform cars (Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, and Lincoln Town Car) are rwd with a Watt's linkage rear suspension. Since the Cobra version of the 4.6 V8 is the same block design but cast out of aluminum, the police heavy-duty auto tranny will bolt right up. However, I have seen Crown Vics with the 32V Cobra motor AND the standard borg-Warner T-5 5 speed gearbox installed with the shift lever protruding nicely up from the tranny tunnel. The Bondurant School of High Performance Driving now has a few of these in their fleet.

Just saw a black 97 GT 5spd 60+M in the paper today, ~$9,000. If it's Chris's here, he lowered the price. If not, well, it might not be an apple to apples comparison. If I hadn't just blown my wad on the new Eclipse, I'd be all over this thing myself.

naw not yet. and the miata I had my eye on might get sold in the next couple of days...They said there was a guy looking at it who wanted them to fix the AC. People don't usually go around to dealerships acting interested in cars and demanding repairs be made to them unless they are fairly serious about buying...so...

Keep your eyes open for a PGT for me. ~$5-6K Don't know yet if or when I'll be able to buy.

I have a strange feeling that I'll never own another car...

what happened to your other car?

Captain Chris
07/21/2001, 04:40 AM
Nope, that wasn't my car. I'm not going to the classifieds unless nobody shows any interest in the car on any Probe site or used car database. I want the new owner to appreciate the car for what it is, what it can do, and what it represents.

My other car... My 96 sable LS wasn't really mine. It was my parents - under title - and they decided to sell it after I got arrested for DWI.
